What came first, the chicken or the egg? Neither—it was The Yolk!
The Yolk is an egg- inspired periodical from AKI students to AKI students. We talk school, creativity problems, chickens and philosophy sometimes. We looove a good graduate interview! We also publish poetry, opinion pieces, comics and other art stuff.
At a time when print media is often considered a dying format, The Yolk embraces its physicality with a bold and playful approach. It combines the tactile richness of traditional newspapers with a contemporary flair, incorporating experimental typography and a striking bright orange ink.
Every copy of The Yolk is entirely handmade. From writing to printing and assemblage, we (the ‘Mother Hens’) oversee each step of the process with meticulous care. Utilizing riso and screen printing techniques, we ensure that no two issues are exactly alike—just as no two egg yolks are identical.
